INEOS Oligomers announced two new product launches across its specialty chemicals portfolio.

INEOS Oligomers announced the expansion of their global DIB offering with the introduction of DIB99S (Diisobutylene 99% with BHT), a high-purity hydrocarbon olefin formulated with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) antioxidant to help maintain product integrity and reduce olefin oxidation during storage. The organization also announced the expansion of the hydrogenated polybutene Panalane® line with Panalane® L-2E.

DIB99S is designed to deliver consistent performance in applications where purity, stability, and controlled reactivity are critical. The inclusion of BHT, a widely used antioxidant and chemical stabilizer, helps protect the material from oxidative degradation, supporting longer shelf life and reliable processing performance.

“DIB99S reflects INEOS Oligomers’ commitment to providing high-quality, well-stabilized hydrocarbon building blocks for demanding applications,” said Gary Gudac, North American Technical Manager at INEOS Oligomers. “By combining high-purity diisobutylene with an effective stabilizer, we offer customers a dependable solution that supports both performance and handling requirements.”

Diisobutylene 99S is a unique C8 olefin with an industry leading 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-1 (TMP1) content.  The product is synthesized via isobutene dimerization and is used as a key reactive intermediate and is well suited for use in applications such as polymer modification, lubricant additives, and other specialty chemical synthesis where controlled stability and high TMP1 content are essential.

Panalane® L-2E complements the established offering of Panalane® L-14E and Panalane® H-300E. This high-purity, low-viscosity emollient is designed to enhance texture, feel, spreadability, and pigment performance in a wide range of personal care and color cosmetic applications.

Panalane L-2E is lightweight with an elegant skin feel to help formulators achieve smooth, even application with a dry after-feel, and improved overall sensory performance while the hydrogenated structure provides excellent long-term performance and stability. With a viscosity of 3–5 cSt at 20°C, Panalane L-2E offers exceptional formulation flexibility for use alone or in combination with other emollients to balance film formation.

“The introduction of L-2E provides formulators with another versatile tool to improve both performance and aesthetics as well as to address the growing need for high performance alternatives to silicones in cosmetic formulations” said Gary Gudac, North American Technical Manager at INEOS Oligomers. “Its ability to spread evenly and quickly, enhance gloss and wet-combing performance in hair care formulations, reduce whitening in anti-perspirants, improve pigment dispersion in color cosmetics, and contribute to long-wear performance makes it well suited for modern cosmetic and skin, sun, and hair care formulations.”

Key performance benefits of Panalane® L-2E include:

  • High-purity emollient for consistent performance
  • Rapid spreading with dry after-feel
  • Gloss, shine, and wet-combing enhancement in hair care
  • Lightweight skin-feel
  • Enhanced pigment wetting and dispersion
  • Support for long-wear performance
  • Effective skin conditioning properties

Panalane L-2E can be used alone or readily combined with other emollients to fine-tune formulation aesthetics, making it suitable for applications such as anhydrous foundations, lip products, sunscreens, antiperspirants, pressed powders, hair care, and skin care products where smooth application and sensory appeal are critical with use levels ranging from 1% to 70%.
