Sapphire Technologies, Honeywell UOP partner to revolutionize energy recovery in refineries
- Sapphire Technologies to become exclusive turboexpander supplier for Honeywell UOP's electrification initiatives
Sapphire Technologies, a leading developer and manufacturer of energy recovery systems for natural gas applications, announces a strategic partnership with Honeywell UOP LLC, a global leader in providing technology and services for the oil and gas industry, known for its innovative solutions in refining, petrochemical production and gas processing.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing clean energy solutions within the refining and petrochemical industries, as the two companies join forces to harness the power of turboexpanders for energy recovery.
As part of this partnership, Sapphire Technologies will be the exclusive supplier of turboexpanders to Honeywell UOP for pressure letdown applications in certain fluid applications. By providing refineries and petrochemical plants with a method to recover waste pressure, this collaboration is set to significantly impact the industry. Each FreeSpin® In-line Turboexpander unit installed under this partnership can provide up to 300 kW per FIT, contributing to significant reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and offering clean electricity generation.
The technology will also offer substantial economic benefits by converting waste pressure into valuable energy, enhancing operational efficiency, and reducing costs for refineries and petrochemical plants. Overall, this partnership will aim to facilitate a transition to more sustainable operations, enhancing overall environmental responsibility.
