Thai Oil to shut crude unit for repairs at Sriracha refinery
(Reuters) - Thai Oil is planning to shut one of the three crude distillation units at its Sriracha refinery complex for repairs after production issues cropped up early last week, two sources familiar with the matter said.
The repairs will likely take around two weeks, one of the two sources said.
The No. 3 CDU, the largest among the plant's three crude units, has the capacity to process 165,000 bpd of oil.
The 275,000-bpd refinery is located near the port of Laem Chabang in Sriracha, Chonburi province.
A Thai Oil spokesperson said that the company is "currently assessing the situation" in response to an email seeking comment on the repairs.
Thai Oil ran into production issues last week with gasoil and jet fuel not meeting trade specifications, said three traders that participate in the market.
Fuel output from the No. 3 CDU is further processed at secondary units to produce higher quality fuels and reduce their sulfur content, according to Thai Oil's website.
One of the traders said Thai Oil will not be offering any spot fuel cargoes and will reduce term volumes of some products to their buyers.
