Eastman Chemical Co. has completed the restart of a previously idled cracking unit at its Longview, Texas, site. The restart of this cracker increases Eastman’s olefin capacity by approximately 215,000 metric tons and brings the company’s total number of active cracking units to three.

Stamicarbon urea tech licensed to Bodashidi in China
Stamicarbon, the licensing and IP Center of Maire Tecnimont S.p.A., has signed a license agreement with Inner Mongolia Bodashidi Co., Ltd. in China for a urea plant with a capacity of 2860 mtpd. The plant will be built in the industrial zone of Nalinriver, Wushen, Inner Mongolia, China.
Dow announces plans for new propylene glycol plant in Thailand
The Dow Chemical Co. plans to build a propylene glycol (PG) plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, with a production capacity of up to 150 ktpy.
Shaw to help engineer a new ethylene plant in India
The Shaw Group Inc. has been selected by GAIL (India) to provide its proprietary technology and basic engineering for a new 450,000 tpy ethylene plant. Shaw also will provide support during detailed engineering, procurement and construction, and commissioning and startup of the plant, which will be part of GAIL's petrochemical complex in Pata, Uttar Pradesh, India.
