Natural gas output declines in lower 48 US states
Natural gas output in the Lower 48 US states in December eased 0.2%, or 0.14 billion cubic feet per day, to 72.54 billion cubic feet a day, government data released Wednesday show. The December data predate some modest output cuts unveiled in January as prices hit 10-year lows.
Linn to buy Kansas gas processing plant from BP
BP has agreed to sell its interests in the Jayhawk gas processing plant in Hugoton, Kansas, and associated producing gas fields in Kansas to an affiliate of LINN Energy. The $1.2bn sale is currently expected to complete on March 30, according to the companies.
Blackstone to invest $2bn in Cheniere US LNG plant
Blackstone Group is investing $2 billion in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) operation by buying senior subordinated paid-in-kind units from Cheniere Energy. Cheniere will use proceeds to develop its Sabine Pass liquefaction project at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal.
TransCanada to extend Tamazunchale natural gas pipeline in Mexico
TransCanada said Friday that it will build, own and operate the Tamazunchale Pipeline Extension in Mexico. TransCanada expects to invest approximately $500 million in the pipeline and anticipates an in-service date in the first quarter of 2014.
Shell eyes East Africa LNG, makes Cove Energy bid
Anglo-Dutch oil major Royal Dutch Shell on Wednesday proposed to buy all the shares of UK-listed Cove Energy, marking the company's first foray into Kenya and Mozambique. Shell is one of the world's largest LNG producers with equity sales volumes of 18.83 million tpy of LNG in 2011.
