Singapore's Aster plans August maintenance for crude, petchem units
Singapore's Aster Chemicals and Energy plans to shut at least one of its crude units and a steam cracker at its Bukom complex for maintenance in August, multiple sources familiar with the matter said.
Aster, a joint venture between Indonesia's Chandra Asri and trading major Glencore, operates a 237,000-bpd refinery in Singapore's Bukom Island.
Its 110,000-bpd crude distillation unit (CDU) and 1.1-metric MMtpy steam cracker will be shut for around a month, the sources added.
"Aster routinely plans maintenance on equipment," a company spokesperson said. "For reasons of commercial confidentiality, we do not provide details about the operational status of individual units."
Supplies of some fuels such as gasoil and petrochemical products will be further limited during this maintenance, the sources said, with one diesel-producing unit likely to be shut for maintenance as well.
The force majeure Aster imposed on some of its contractual supplies in March, citing a disruption in raw materials due to the Middle East conflict, is still in place, according to two of the sources.
