Lukoil licenses UOP technology for petrochemicals, gasoline production in Russia
Lukoil will license an integrated suite of UOP technologies to produce high-quality gasoline blending components, propylene and other petrochemicals at its facility in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. Russia is the third largest energy consumer in the world, and demand is growing due to higher economic activity.
CB&I to buy engineering major Shaw Group, seeks energy diversification
CB&I believes that combining the two companies will create “one of the most complete energy-focused technology, engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, maintenance, and associated services companies in the world”. The acquisition is expected to close in early 2013.
Technip wins engineering deal on Saudi elastomers project of SABIC, ExxonMobil
The project is part of the elastomers program undertaken by the joint venture to set up a world-scale specialty elastomers facility to serve local markets, the Middle East and Asia. The new facility will produce 110,000 tpy of rubber using ExxonMobil-licensed technology.
AGL taps CB&I to build Australia gas storage facility
CB&I’s scope of work will include all the civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning support for the construction of a LNG storage tank, gas pretreatment, the liquefaction, the vaporization and the associated utilities, according to the company.
PdVSA awards Venezuela refinery expansion work to Foster Wheeler, Toyo
Foster Wheeler will execute the project in consortium with Toyo Engineering Corp. from Japan and Y & V Ingeniería y Construcción from Venezuela. The consortium previously completed the front-end engineering design for the project. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
Petronas picks Air Products equipment, technology for Malaysia FLNG unit
Air Products claims the AP-N LNG process is the most efficient of all nitrogen-recycle LNG processes in the industry, and is ideally suited for small-scale FLNG applications. This is the initial use of the AP-N LNG process and equipment. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pemex awards reliability system work to Penspen
Under the terms of the agreement, Penspen says it and other groups will assist in the development of a plan for managing the integrity and reliability of transmission pipelines, gathering pipelines, onshore pipelines, offshore pipelines, storage terminals and maritime terminals.

CB&I wins technology deal for Petronas Malaysia petrochemical units
CB&I was awarded a contract by Petronas for licensing and engineering design work on five petrochemicals units in Johor, Malaysia. Lummus Technology said it will provide technology for a steam cracker complex comprising ethylene, butadiene, benzene, isobutylene and MTBE units.
Shell picks Jacobs for engineering on Canada mine
The Jackpine Mine is one of two mines at Shell's Albian Sands site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Officials did not disclose the contract value. Jacobs will deliver a portfolio of projects involving conceptual engineering of new technologies to consolidate tailings and meet environmental requirements.
