Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, RITE partner to convert captured CO2 into methanol
Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. and the Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth have signed an agreement regarding the transfer of part of the CO2 recovered using a direct-air-capture (DAC) device. The collaboration will showcase innovative technologies that capture CO₂ from the atmosphere and transfer it to underground storage while also utilizing it for methanol production.
OCI Global receives U.S. regulatory approval for the sale of its global methanol business to Methanex Corp.
Under the proposed Transaction, Methanex will acquire 100% of the equity interests in OCI Methanol, comprising 100% of OCI’s US and European methanol assets. The Transaction consideration will be paid through a combination of approximately USD $1.2 billion of cash (taking into account net indebtedness) subject to customary closing adjustments, and the issuance of 9.9 million common shares of Methanex.
Canadian court orders NOVA Chemicals to pay Dow an additional $1.2 billion judgment
The Court of King's Bench of Alberta, Canada has issued a judgment ordering NOVA Chemicals Corporation to pay Dow an additional amount of CAD$1.62 billion (equivalent to approximately USD $1.2 billion) in damages. The judgment, signed on June 10, 2025, relates to losses Dow incurred from the companies' jointly owned ethylene asset in Joffre, Alberta, Canada.
