Jacobs, Shell form partnership for project design work in India
Jacobs Engineering Group says it received a contract from Shell in India to build an integrated organization with Shell’s project design office in Bangalore, India. The new organization aims to blend the strong technical and engineering design capability held by Shell and Jacobs, while optimizing the best work processes and tools of both companies, they said.
IEA says nations must act independently on climate
With little hope for significant progress on a major international climate agreement at this week's climate negotiations, nations must take it upon themselves to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change, the head of the IEA said Tuesday. To limit rising temperatures to an average of 2 degrees Celsius, global growth would have to come with just a 20% rise in emissions in the years ahead, she said.
Qatargas picks GE technology to lower emissions
GE has signed a contract with Qatargas to supply advanced combustion technology to reduce gas turbine emissions at the Qatargas 1 Utility complex to meet new regulations. GE will provide its Dry Low NOx (DLN) 1.0 combustion system designed to achieve low emissions levels of 25 ppm for nitrogen oxide.
Qatar Petroleum, Shell plan $6.4bn petrochemical project by 2017
Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, minister of energy and industry in Qatar, and Shell CEO Peter Voser each signed an agreement Monday to develop a world-scale petrochemicals complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Project officials estimated at a press conference that the project will cost $6.4 billion, with operations starting up in 2017.
