Oil India plans to buy up to $200mn in US, Australia shale gas assets

State-run Oil India plans to buy shale gas assets worth up to $200 million and is scouting for potential acquisitions in the US and Australia as it seeks to gain expertise in the field ahead of India's plans to auction blocks in the country, a senior executive said Monday. India is seeking to tap into its shale gas resources to meet rising gas demand from power plants and factories.

Enterprise extends shipper commitment period for Appalachia-Texas ethane pipeline

Enterprise Products is extending its open commitment period by two weeks to accommodate additional shipper demand on the partnership’s Appalachia-to-Texas pipeline (ATEX Express). The open commitment period began Wednesday morning and will close on the afternoon of Monday, January 23.

Dow Chemical picks UOP for propylene production technology at Texas project

Honeywell’s UOP has been selected by Dow Chemical to provide technology to produce propylene at a Dow production site in Texas, the companies said on Thursday. The facility, scheduled to start up in 2015, will produce 750,000 metric tpy of polymer-grade propylene.

UOP unveils natural gas processing, hydrogen unit

Honeywell’s UOP has established a new business unit dedicated to natural gas processing solutions and hydrogen. The unit will increase Honeywell UOP’s focus on developing technology, equipment and adsorbents as well as the design and execution of projects for global natural gas and hydrogen customers, the company said.

Sinopec paying $2.2bn for Devon US shale acreage

Devon Energy reached a deal with Sinopec in which the Chinese oil major will pay $2.2 billion for a one-third interest in five alternative US shale plays. The deal includes positions across five shale regions: the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, the Niobrara, the Mississippian, Ohio Utica Shale and the Michigan Basin.

Total enters US shale venture with Chesapeake

Paris-based energy group Total entered a joint venture with Chesapeake Energy to develop energy from shale formations in Ohio. Total will take 25% of the two companies' chunk of the Utica shale formation located in 10 counties in eastern Ohio.

Enterprise to build ethane pipeline from Appalachia to US Gulf

Enterprise plans to move ahead with a planned 1,230-mile pipeline to deliver growing ethane production from the Marcellus and Utica shale regions to the US Gulf coast. The pipeline will begin in Pennsylvania with 595 miles of new pipeline extending to Missouri, where Enterprise plans to reverse an existing pipeline and place it in ethane service.
