INVISTA, Plaxica work to commercialize bio-based lactic acid technology
The two companies will work together to develop and commercialize Plaxica’s lactic acid technology, which the companies believe will offer substantial cost and performance benefits to licensees in the polylactic acid and bio-propylene glycol value chains.

US chemical activity shows summer recovery
There were gains in the output of pesticides, synthetic rubber, chlor-alkali, plastic resins, and pharmaceuticals. These gains were offset, however, by declines in the production of organic chemicals, adhesives, acids, phosphates, sulfates, manufactured fibers, other specialties, and fertilizers.

Gasoline demand rose last month by 3.5% from June 2014 to average over 9.3 million bpd. These deliveries were the highest for any month since August 2007.
Shell to sell Elba LNG stake in Georgia to partner Kinder Morgan for $630M
The Elba liquefaction project is proposed to be constructed and operated at the existing Elba Island LNG terminal near Savannah, Georgia. Kinder Morgan currently owns 51% of the ELC joint venture, while Shell owns the remaining 49% and subscribes to 100% of the liquefaction capacity.

Dow will separate its US Gulf Coast chlor-alkali and vinyl, global chlorinated organics and global epoxy businesses, and then merge these businesses with Olin in a Reverse Morris Trust transaction.
Dominion contracts GE for two compressor trains at Cove Point LNG project
The project located on the Chesapeake Bay in Lusby, Maryland, will produce about 5.25 MMtpy of LNG when completed in late 2017 and will be the first LNG export terminal on the US East Coast.
