Partners sought from construction and engineering for program to decarbonize £1 T/yr global market for low-carbon jet fuel

How to produce the vast volumes of low-carbon fuel needed to decarbonize the aviation industry, reliably and at scale, is at the heart of a program which is now seeking project lifecycle partners from the technology, engineering, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Equilibrion’s Eq.Flight uses nuclear energy to power sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, offering a constant, low-carbon source of electricity and heat capable of supporting large-scale, continuous outputs which competing SAF pathways can struggle to achieve.

The program, which is part-funded by the Department for Transport, is working towards the first commercial plant in the UK, and the development of a repeatable delivery model, which can be deployed across the globe and eventually serve the £1 trillion-a-year global market for jet fuels.

Caroline Longman, Director, Equilibrion, said, “If we are serious about decarbonizing aviation at scale, we have to move beyond incremental solutions. Nuclear-enabled SAF provides the means to deliver reliable, low-carbon fuel in the volumes the market requires.

“This program is about creating lasting impact – a repeatable delivery model, a strong industrial base, and a confident supply chain in the UK and across the world. We are seeking partners who want to help shape this future with us, not just deliver a single project.

“With global policy momentum building around SAF, the program provides an early-mover opportunity in a new, scalable infrastructure market that combines nuclear energy and advanced fuel production. To deliver this ambition, Eq.flight is assembling a world-class supply chain, bringing together partners from across engineering, construction, technology, and delivery.”

Hannah Vickers, Strategy & Commercial Lead, Eq.flight, added, “Unlike a traditional procurement exercise, the engagement is positioned as an invitation to collaborate that offers partners the chance to influence how projects are structured, delivered and scaled.

“Performance, practical delivery experience and cultural alignment will be key, with opportunities for both specialist SMEs and larger organizations to play defined roles where they can add the most value.

“For the right organizations, this is an opportunity to take an early position in a new market and to help define how a global program is delivered – not just how one asset is built.”
