deugro delivers critical equipment for Technip Energies project in U.S.
Under challenging conditions, deugro USA successfully delivered > 6,600 m3 of equipment for a major industrial project in central U.S. for its client Technip Energies.
Starting in 2023, deugro’s Materials, Turnaround and Construction (MTAC) logistics management division coordinated and delivered nearly 50 individual shipments containing furnace modules, cooling towers, over 53-m3 pump skids, as well as a variety of containers—from 20 ft., 40 ft. standard and open top containers to flat racks, to the remote industrial facility in central U.S.
deugro USA was awarded the contract for this complex project due to the specialized expertise of its MTAC division in refinery operations, coupled with its extensive knowledge and proven track record in delivering to active refinery sites.
All onsite operations demanded adherence to the highest safety and industry standards, deep-rooted experience and understanding in working around such operational facilities, and strict compliance with protocols essential for work in most remote locations.
The experience of deugro’s MTAC division in onsite refinery operations contributed to effective collaboration and optimized processes. It enabled timely and efficient deliveries to the construction site and facilitated coordination with both the refinery and the construction company’s teams.
Acting as the project control tower, deugro Houston’s MTAC division coordinated closely with international deugro offices to ensure full alignment with the strict schedule and project requirements.
Collected from Korea, China, Italy, the UK, India, Germany, and Mexico, the cargo was transported to the project site through a combination of domestic road freight, international ocean freight, air freight, and breakbulk solutions.

To ensure effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of global shipments—aligned with the project site's required delivery sequences, the weather conditions, and equipment availability—deugro’s MTAC team maintained close communication with all stakeholders. The team conducted regular status meetings to review progress and address project-related matters, while also delivering weekly tracking updates. This proactive and collaborative approach led not only to safe and on-time deliveries but also to significant cost savings for the client.
Through careful planning and the identification of transportation synergies, deugro’s MTAC experts optimized carrier selection and cargo consolidation resulting in further significant cost savings for international deliveries.
The majority of cargo was shipped by ocean freight to the Port of Houston, where it was transloaded onto truck-trailer configurations for on-carriage to the project site. To ensure safe and timely transports, deugro arranged for a preliminary road survey, escort services, and coordinated scheduled stops at designated rest areas.

Close coordination with the onsite material handling and management team—alongside regular status updates on deugro’s MTAC operations—ensured that each incoming shipment had a clear and well-structured offloading plan in place. Even for parcel shipments, where deliveries were complicated due to the location’s remoteness and limited carrier access, the MTAC division successfully identified trucking partners to complete the job.
Altogether, the trucks covered a total of approximately 180,000 km to deliver all components to the construction site. The facility’s remote nature and the severe winter weather which included high winds and snowstorms, heavy snowfall averaging 48 in. total per year, low temp of 2°F on average as well as ice, added considerable challenges for the cargo deliveries. Therefore, both, a close collaboration with the onsite material handling and management team and avoiding any extreme winter weather through meticulous planning, preparation and scheduling, were key for a safe delivery and for avoiding any personal injury or cargo damage.
“Maintaining a consistent onsite presence at both port facilities and the job site, while ensuring transparent communication among all stakeholders, was vital to the project's safe, timely, and efficient execution. This was especially important given the constraints posed by limited working hours and occasional shutdowns due to severe weather conditions. Keeping all parties in the communication loop and swiftly escalating for clarification helped minimize cargo holdover times and avoid unnecessary costs,” said Chahid Mouawad, MTAC Logistics Manager at deugro USA.
“Through close collaboration with our international deugro offices, the client, the job site’s material management team, and all project partners, we ensured every shipment arrived safely and on schedule without impacting construction timelines. Our team executed the project in full compliance with the highest safety and industry standards, delivering on time and cost-effectively. We’re proud to support this innovative industrial project with tailored logistics solutions that drive progress toward a more sustainable future,” added Gert Jensen, Senior Vice President, Operations, at deugro USA.
