Al-Nasr Fertilizers Co., Benchmark and Envision Energy partner to build a 400,000-tpy green ammonia plant in Egypt

Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, received at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, a delegation from Envision Energy, a leading Chinese company in the field of green technology, headed by Mr. Frank Yu, Vice President of the company, and Benchmark Power International, headed by Dr. Ahmed Bahgat, Chairman of the Board. A meeting was held in the presence of Chemist Saad Helal, Managing Director of the Holding Company for Chemical Industries, and Engineer Diaa Taher, Managing Director of Al-Nasr Fertilizers Company.
During the meeting, the advanced status of the project to establish a green ammonia production plant at Al-Nasr Fertilizers Company, affiliated with the Holding Company for Chemical Industries in Ataqa, Suez Governorate, was discussed. The steps and procedures for the partnership between Al-Nasr Fertilizers Company and the alliance of Benchmark (the main developer) and Envision Energy (the technical know-how owner) were discussed through the establishment of a company for the environmentally friendly green ammonia project.

The project is an important step in the country’s direction towards achieving sustainable development goals and supporting new exports of green energy, as it has received approval to convert it into a free zone and is entirely dependent on clean energy, and aims to produce 420,000 tons in the first phase, with a plan to export the vast majority of the production.
The minister pointed out that this project represents a significant step in the country's move towards a green economy and emissions reduction, thus strengthening Egypt's position on the clean energy map. He added that the project's reliance on renewable energy sources embodies Egypt's commitment to building a sustainable energy system, contributing to enhanced energy security and reduced dependence on fossil fuels, as well as opening new export opportunities that reflect Egypt's potential as a regional hub for renewable energy. He explained that the involvement of international expertise in this field reflects the confidence of international investors in the Egyptian investment climate.
Engineer Mohamed Sheimy stressed that the ministry gives partnership with the private sector a pivotal place within its strategic vision, as this partnership is one of the main pillars for enhancing the capabilities of affiliated companies and opening new investment horizons, noting the keenness to attract more local and foreign investments and bring in the latest global technologies, and enhance cooperation with leading international entities in joint projects that contribute to raising productivity, enhancing competitiveness, transferring experiences and localizing technology to ensure sustainable growth and achieve added value for the national economy.
