Russia's Far East oil refinery operating at full capacity after fire
An oil refinery operated by Russian oil giant Rosneft in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the country's Far East region is producing at full capacity after a fire at the site was extinguished on Thursday, TASS news agency reported.
According to TASS, which cited a representative at the plant, the refinery has utilized reserve capacity.
The RIA state news outlet reported earlier that there were no casualties as a result of the blaze.
A representative for local emergency services said there was no information about the cause of the fire, according to RIA.
Two industry sources said the fire hit the main equipment, crude distillation unit 3 (CDU-3), which was urgently halted. Its production capacity stands at 15,700 metric tpd (115,000 bpd).
Another unit, CDU-2, has a daily capacity of 7,150 t and it has been mothballed since July 2024, according to the sources. They said the plant may put the unit into operation.
The refinery processed almost 4 MMt of oil last year, producing 470,000 t of gasoline and 930,000 t of diesel.
