One killed, three injured in explosion at Rosneft's oil refinery

One worker was killed and three others were injured in an explosion at an oil refinery in Russia's city of Ryazan, TASS and RIA news agencies reported.

"During scheduled technical works at the plant, performed by employees of the contractor organization...equipment depressurization occurred," TASS cited the refinery's representative.

The refinery, owned by Russian largest oil producer Rosneft, has been targeted by Ukrainian drones several times. In February, it suspended operations after a drone attack.

In 2024, the Ryazan refinery processed 13.1 MM tonnes (262,000 bpd), or almost 5% of Russia's total refining throughput.

It produced 2.3 MMt of gasoline, 3.4 MMt of diesel, 4.2 MMt of fuel oil and 1 MMt of jet fuel, according to source-based data.
