Motiva Enterprises is preparing a second attempt to restart the gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker-3 (FCC-3) at its 626,000-bpd Port Arthur, Texas refinery.
The 81,000-bpd FCC-3 and the 18,000-bpd akylation unit were shut on January 28 for a planned overhaul expected to last two months. Motiva attempted to restart FCC-3 over the weekend, but seals on the unit failed, requiring their replacement, sources said.
