· Partnerships enhance Borouge’s market position in the UAE
· Borouge materials will support mega projects across the UAE, including ADNOC’s Hail & Ghasha Project, Project WAVE and the Guggenheim Museum in Abu Dhabi
Borouge Plc, a leading petrochemicals company that provides innovative and differentiated polyolefins solutions, has signed a series of commercial agreements to expand its market presence in the UAE. The agreements strengthen Borouge’s contribution to ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative by supporting local manufacturing and driving economic diversification.
Signed during ArabPlast at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the agreements involve key partners, including Union Pipes Industry, National Fire Fighting Manufacturing FZCO (NAFFCO), Abu Dhabi Medical Devices Company (ADMD) and Silal. The supply agreement with NAFFCO is projected to grow Borouge’s market share in the pipe industry, while collectively contributing with infrastructure applications to high-profile UAE projects such as the Saadiyat Island Cultural District, the Hail & Ghasha mega development, and the Guggenheim Museum. At the same time, they will support the National In-Country Value programme by advancing the nation’s infrastructure, agricultural, sustainability and healthcare sectors.
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge, said: "Borouge is proud to play a pivotal role in advancing the UAE’s ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative through innovative solutions and strategic partnerships that strengthen local industries and supply chains. These agreements reinforce our position in the industry by delivering highly differentiated solutions that enhance infrastructure and industrial applications. By working closely with our partners, we are helping to support the UAE’s vision for industrial self-reliance and economic diversification."
Aligned with the UAE’s industrial goals, the collaborations prioritise local production and sustainability. For instance, Borouge’s partnership with Union Pipes Industry focuses on delivering PE100 and PE100-RC solutions for infrastructure projects, including potable water systems and stormwater collection networks.
Borouge’s advanced materials are integral to the success of these partnerships. The partnership with NAFFCO enables the production of polyethylene materials for underground firefighting systems and drainage infrastructure, demonstrating Borouge’s commitment to advancing sustainability in urban development.
In addition to strengthening its presence in the pipe industry, Borouge’s materials are also supporting advancements in healthcare and agriculture. Agreements with Abu Dhabi Medical Devices Company aim to enhance local manufacturing capabilities for medical-grade materials used in syringes, catheters, and other critical healthcare applications. In agriculture, Borouge’s partnership with Silal focuses on advancing sustainable agricultural technologies to boost productivity and support food security.
The agreements ensure the whole production cycle, from raw material to finished product, will take place within the UAE, supporting In-Country Value (ICV) targets and contributing to a circular economy.
The ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative is a core element of the UAE’s industrial strategy, which aims to strengthen the national economy by enhancing self-reliance, increasing local production, and creating opportunities for economic diversification. The initiative aligns with the ‘Operation 300 billion’ strategy, designed to position the UAE as a global hub for advanced industries by driving technological innovation, sustainable development, and economic growth.
