Shell restarting hydrocracker at Louisiana refinery (U.S.)

Shell began restarting the diesel-producing hydrocracker (HCU) at its 233,702-bpd refinery in Norco, Louisiana, on Friday, people familiar with plant operations said.

"We are continuing to progress with our startup operations," Shell spokesperson Natalie Gunnell said in an emailed statement.

The 40,000-bpd HCU was shut on Sept. 11 when Hurricane Francine disrupted the unit’s operation.

Shell kept the HCU shut as it was days away from beginning a planned overhaul, the company said on Sept. 13.
