Japan's Eneos shuts 153,000-bpd Negishi CDU for maintenance

Japan's biggest refiner, Eneos Corp., shut the 153,000-bpd crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Negishi refinery near Tokyo on Sept. 9 for scheduled maintenance, a company spokesperson said on Thursday.

The refiner, a unit of Eneos Holdings, expects to restart the unit in mid- to late-November, the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Eneos restarted the 136,000-bpd CDU at its Oita refinery in southwestern Japan on Sept. 1 following planned turnaround that started on May 13, the spokesperson said.

At its Kawasaki refinery near Tokyo, the 172,100-bpd No. 2 CDU was brought back online on Aug. 9, and the 77,000-bpd No. 3 CDU was restarted on Aug. 29, following planned maintenance that began on May 13 and March 22, respectively, according to the spokesperson.

Separately, the refiner restarted the 145,000-bpd No.1 CDU at its Sendai refinery in northern Japan on Aug. 15 after suspending it on Aug. 1 due to system trouble, the spokesperson said, without disclosing details of the issue.

On Aug. 10, Eneos conducted an unplanned shutdown of the 175,000-bpd CDU at its Kashima refinery near Tokyo due to a system glitch, with no restart date yet scheduled, the spokesperson said.
