Argentine biofuels chamber calls new U.S. biodiesel duties illegal

The Argentine Chamber of Biofuels (CARBIO) said that increased U.S. duties on Argentine biodiesel were "arbitrary and illegal" and would shut Argentina out of the market in the U.S.
The U.S. Commerce Department on Wednesday slapped anti-dumping duties of between 60.44% to 276.65% on biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia, on top of already steep anti-subsidy duties."These anti-dumping duties confirm the total closure of the American market for at least five years, with a very high impact on the entire Argentine soybean chain," Luis Zubizarreta, president of CARBIO, said in a statement. He said he expected the Argentine government to take the case to the World Trade Organization "to reverse these measures as soon as possible."
The U.S. Commerce Department set final dumping duties for Argentine biodiesel at 60.44% to 86.41%, and for Indonesian biodiesel at 92.52% to 276.65%.
Biodiesel in Argentina is made with soybeans, the country's main cash crop.
