Jalil Salari, Managing Director, National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), speaking at the 28th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition, revealed significant developments in Iran's oil and gas sector. Highlighting the imminent operation of the largest Izomax unit (42,000 bpd) in the Middle East at Abadan refinery, Salari projected a notable boost in diesel and gasoline production. Moreover, he unveiled plans for the inauguration of desulfurization and gasoline production units at the Shiraz Refinery, promising substantial additions to the nation's fuel output.

“The quality improvement plan of Tehran Oil refinery is also being implemented. By the end of the current [Iranian] year (March 20, 2025), the amount of gasoline produced in the refinery will increase from 6 million liters per day (MMlpd) to 7.5 MMlpd, and furthermore, the quality of gasoline will be up to Euro 5 which currently is Euro 4.” “In addition, 70,000 bpd will be added to the refining capacity of the refining complexes, which will increase the daily production of gasoline and gasoil by 1.6 and 2.5 million liters, respectively.”

Additionally, Salari emphasized infrastructure enhancements, including the launch of over 1,100 kilometers of pipelines and increased refining capacity, aimed at bolstering gasoline and gasoil production, while also underlining efforts towards diversifying the fuel mix through methanol conversion, a move set to significantly augment the country's gasoline reserves.
