Casale key technologies for a new technical ammonium nitrate complex

Casale and Smartchem Technologies Limited (STL), a 100% subsidiary of Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL), a trusted chemicals and fertilizer manufacturer in India, performed ground-breaking ceremony and foundation stone laying of its at Gopalpur Industrial Park on 9th December 2021.

The plant has received technology from Casale, that will ensure the utmost safety working conditions and the lowest possible emission.

The new fertilizer complex will include three complementary Casale technologies:

  • 900 MTD nitric acid plant, based on Casale’s proprietary NA2000 process (Dual Pressure),
  • 1143 MTD ammonium nitrate solution plant incorporating Casale’s AN2000 pipe reactor technology,
  • One prilling unit capable to produce 1’000 MTD of either high density ammonium nitrate (HDAN) or the same amount of low density ammonium nitrate (LDAN), based on the newly acquired technology from ORICA for this product.

The emission and discharge from the plant will be among the lowest and will be equipped with advanced NOx/N2O abatement technologies.

“This testifies to Casale's commitment to the development of technologies that favor not only the plants performances, but also the reduction of emissions” - said Federico Zardi, CEO of Casale. - “Our final goal is always to contribute to the reduction of pollution and therefore to the general improvement of the climatic conditions of our planet.”

The project, which will provide employment to 1,500 people during project phase and 325 people during the operation phase, is expected to be completed by August 2024, 50% of the engineering work is already completed and the piling work will begin in January 2022.
