Air Liquide supports the development of a liquid hydrogen plant in South Korea

Air Liquide Engineering & Construction has signed an agreement with Doosan Heavy Industries to support
the construction of a liquid hydrogen plant in Changwon, South Korea as an enabler of clean transport
development in the country.

As part of the agreement, Air Liquide will provide the engineering and procurement of the Hydrogen Liquefier,
bringing its extensive experience in the design, engineering and operation of ultra low temperature
liquefaction plants.

The plant will be built within the grounds of Doosan’s site in Changwon and will be able to produce 5 tons of
liquid hydrogen per day to service hydrogen charging stations nationwide once in operation. The first
industrial hydrogen production is envisaged in early 2023.

Hydrogen is one of the solutions to the environmental challenges of clean transportation: reduction of
greenhouse gases, of pollution in cities, and of dependency on fossil fuels. For more than 50 years,
Air Liquide has been developing unique expertise in the mastery of the entire hydrogen chain (production,
storage, and distribution).

South Korea is amongst the leading countries in the development of hydrogen as a clean energy source. This
new liquefier is in line with the government plan to considerably densify the network of hydrogen stations in
the country with as much as 310 stations and more than 67,000 hydrogen vehicles across the country by
2022.

David Maloney, Vice President and Chairman of Air Liquide Engineering & Construction stated «We are proud
to partner with Dooosan and contribute to the development of the liquid hydrogen plant in South Korea to
support the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy. Drawing on our more than 50 years of experience
in hydrogen, we provide our customers with state-of-the-art technologies and solutions that enable delivery
of such important projects to contribute to the development of clean mobility and a more sustainable future.
