Venezuela's main refining complex working at 43% of capacity
(Reuters) -- The Paraguana Refining Center, which includes Venezuela's two largest refineries, is working at 43% of its installed capacity of 955,000 bpd, according to internal reports from its operator, state-run PDVSA, seen by Reuters on Wednesday.
The reports detail that Cardon, one of the refineries integrating the Paraguana complex, is operating with only two of its four crude distillation units, while two hydrotreating units and a hydrodesulfurization unit are also out of service.
As of May 8, Cardon was processing 107,000 bpd of crude from a 310,000-bpd capacity, while its neighbor refinery Amuay was processing 302,000 bpd from a 645,000-bpd capacity.
In total, the Paraguana refining complex was processing 409,000 bpd of crude.
Venezuela's Puerto la Cruz refinery is also working partially since two of its three distillation units were halted earlier this month due to lack of crude and equipment malfunctioning.
