Skytanking awarded aviation fuel storage, hydrant management contract at Munich Airport
HAMBURG – Skytanking Holding GmbH is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Skytanking Munich GmbH & Co KG has signed a 6-year contract with Flughafen München GmbH to operate the aviation fuel storage and hydrant system at Munich Airport.
The contract was awarded to Skytanking Munich after an international public tender process, which evaluated the bidders' technical competencies, HSSE standards and economic capabilities.
Skytanking Munich has been operating the fuel facilities at Munich Airport since 1999, and holds one of the two licenses to provide into-plane fueling services at the airport.
“This contract renewal is one more step towards the company’s goal of becoming the preferred aviation fuel handling partner for oil companies, airlines and airports that are looking for a specialized service provider in this industry,” the company said in a press release.
Munich International Airport is Germany's second busiest airport and the seventh busiest in Europe in terms of passenger numbers. The fuel system managed by Skytanking is supplied via rail and pipeline and comprises 45,300 cbm of Jet A-1 storage and 17,300 m of underground pipeline connecting the storage to more than 500 apron hydrant pits.
