Neste begins distribution of low-sulfur bunker fuel in Sweden

Neste will begin the distribution of low-sulfur bunker fuel in Sweden at the Södertälje terminal on Jan. 1, 2017. With the distribution operation, Neste will primarily serve Metropolitan Stockholm, but it also will supply low-sulfur bunker fuel to other places on the Eastern coast of Sweden, if necessary.

"We are extremely happy to open low-sulfur bunker fuel distribution services in Sweden at the turn of the year. To us, this means expanding the market area of marine fuels, and we will also continue to survey new markets in Northern Europe. Our marine fuels are a good solution to reduce sulfur emissions and meet the tightening regulations, and using them requires hardly any investments or modifications to the vessels," said Matti Lehmus, Executive Vice President, Oil Products at Neste.

The current EU and international regulations demand lower sulfur emissions from ships operating on the Baltic Sea, North Sea and the English Channel. Neste is currently offering two low-sulfur marine fuels, the sulfur concentration of which is less than 0.1%.

In Sweden, Neste will be selling Neste RMB from tank trucks. In addition to the distribution of bunker fuel, Neste offers added services, such as technical training.
