Venezuela restarts Cardon refinery unit after four months offline

(Reuters) Venezuela has restarted the catalytic cracker at its Cardon refinery after completing a four-month maintenance program, adding 70 Mbpd to the OPEC nation's oil output, a union official told Reuters.

The Cardon refinery has a total output potential of 180 Mbpd, but is not producing at capacity because its alkylation unit is still paralyzed, union leader Ivan Freites told Reuters, citing a report from state oil company PDVSA.

Separately, Freites said the country's largest refinery, Amuay, was producing at 51% of its 645 Mbpd capacity.
