PTT postpones FID on Ohio ethane cracker project

PTT Global Chemical America (PTT) has delayed the FID on their proposed petrochemical complex to be situated in Belmont County on the Ohio River.  There has been no announcement as to exactly when the FID is to be determined, but company spokesman Dan Williamson believes the decision will be announced in 2017.

Despite the lack of a FID, PTT is continuing to prepare the site, and is in the process of acquiring the land necessary to house the complex. PTT is investing approximately $100 M in front-end engineering design for the ethane cracker complex, and has signed contracts with Fluor Corp. and Bechtel Enterprises Inc. to perform the engineering design work.

The complex will tap gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale region.
