Bahrain Petroleum to expand Sitra refinery

Through its modernization program, Bahrain Petroleum Co. (Bapco) is seeking bids from several engineering and construction companies to expand the Sitra oil refinery. The plant processes approximately 267 Mbpd , but Bapco wants to increase production by almost 100 Mbpd. An expansion of the plant could cost as much as $5 B.

Bidding for the project will close October 5, 2016, and award of a contract is expected by the end of 2Q 2017.

Interested parties include Samsung Engineering, Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Daewoo Engineering and Construction, Petrofac, JGC Corp., and others.
