Neste Jacobs to deliver operator training simulator for Porvoo refinery units

Technology, engineering and project management company Neste Jacobs has signed an agreement to deliver Neste a full-scale operator training simulator for the crude oil distillation unit and the gasoline sulfur removal unit of the Porvoo refinery.

The agreement is a continuation of the previously-delivered simulator, which aided learning environments for the largest production line of Porvoo refinery and for several NEXBTL renewable diesel refineries around the world.

"NAPCON Simulator -- Operator Training Simulator technology offers possibilities to improve the operating personnel's competence with a wide range of training exercises," said Neste's Jukka Kanerva, vice president for the production of oil products. "Practicing together with the entire shift in a real-life-like learning facility is highly motivating and very efficient. Training simulators are now an essential part of Neste's competence management and an irreplaceable tool in securing safe and cost efficient production."

After the new simulator has been commissioned in spring 2016, it will be maintained and kept up-to-date with the real plant by utilizing Neste Jacobs' customer support simulator environment, according to company officials.

Updates to the simulator will be efficiently made over a secure remote connection, Neste Jacobs said.

"We are devoted to serve our clients with our state-of-the-art technology products to help in competence management as a part of their responsible and sustainable business", said Jarmo Suominen, CEO of Neste Jacobs. "The long lasting co-operation with Neste in developing and utilizing training simulators is an example of our world-class technological ability and solid customer service concept."
