Calumet Specialty opens new Mexico facility for base, transformer oils

Specialty hydrocarbon and fuel products group Calumet Specialty Products has now opened Calumet Specialty Oils de Mexico, the company announced on Thursday.

Based out of Huixquilucan, Estado de Mexico, Calumet Specialty Oils de Mexico provides Calumet's global customers with access to bulk products through terminals in Jalisco, Nuevo Leon and Distrito Federal (Mexico City), as well as packaged products from the warehouse in Tlalnepantla (Mexico City).

"We are excited by the potential opportunities stemming from this facility in Mexico and look forward to expanding our excellent product offering to the Latin American and South American markets," said Harji Gill, vice president of international sales at Calumet.

"This new facility will provide us with a strategically located  facility capable of serving current and prospective customers in Latin America, furthering our commitment to grow on a global scale," he added.

Calumet is currently operating a 19-acre, state-of-the-art distribution center (CEDIS) open 24 hours/day and is located within the gated Ferrovalle rail terminal complex. This distribution center is serviced by all three major railroads: KCSM, Ferromex and Ferrosur, and also provides extensive drumming capabilities and transloading services.

With this new warehouse location, Calumet now offers  administrative and logistical advantages to its customer base.

Through its Mexico facility, Calumet will offer a wide range of products to customers in Mexico and Latin American markets. The initial product focus will include base oils, transformer oils, waxes, white mineral oils, petrolatum, and other specialty hydrocarbon fluids, such as solvents.
