USW workers end strike at all Tesoro refineries

US West Coast refiner Tesoro Corp. and striking United Steelworkers union (USW) members of the Martinez refinery have finalized an agreement, thus ending a 52-day walkout.

Tesoro’s three West Coast refineries were affected by the USW strike, which began on February 1.

USW members at the Martinez refinery were the last of three Tesoro groups to finalize local issues and approve the tentative national agreement that was reached on March 12.

Workers at Tesoro's Anacortes, Washington, and Carson, California, refineries began returning to work this week, according to USW.

Although the USW and US refiners have achieved a nation agreement, walkouts continue at BP refineries in Indiana and Ohio, LyondellBasell's Houston refinery and Marathon Petroleum refineries in Kentucky and Texas over local issues.
