Striking USW workers at top refinery approve deal

Union workers at the nation's top refinery are set to return to their jobs by early next week, according to sources from the United Steelworkers union (USW).

The USW reached a tentative deal on a four-year contract at the national level with Royal Dutch Shell last week.

The strike at the Motiva’s Port Arthur refinery began on February 21.

The union workers and several refining companies are in the process of settling local issues.

The USW and Tesoro are also making progress at three West coast refineries -- Anacortes, Washington, and Carson and Martinez, California.

According to the USW, local labor disagreements continue with BP, LyondellBasell, and Marathon Petroleum.
