Merichem buys Kenox wet-air oxidation process

Merichem Company, a global partner serving the oil and gas industries with focused technology, chemicals, and service solutions, announced today that it has acquired Kenox Technology’s Wet Air Oxidation (WAO) process technology for an undisclosed sum.

"The acquisition further enhances Merichem’s MERICON technology portfolio for spent caustic treatment," said Kendra Lee, Merichem CEO.

MERICON units are already licensed globally to petroleum refiners and petrochemical producers, the company notes.

“We believe that the Wet Air Oxidation technology process is a natural fit within the MERICON suite of technologies allowing extension across multiple markets beyond refining and petrochemical, into industrial applications and municipal waste segments,” said Lee.

Merichem provides a diversified portfolio of products and services to a wide range of operations, including the refining and petrochemicals industries.

With more than 1,000 licensed process units worldwide, Merichem is a leader in licensing patented process technologies and supplying proprietary equipment to provide hydrocarbon treating solutions and by-product management services that remove sulfur and other impurities from hydrocarbon liquids and gases in the upstream and downstream energy sectors.
