Japan’s Toho agrees to import US natural gas from Cameron LNG project

Toho Gas has entered into an agreement with fellow Japanese company Mitsui to purchase LNG from the Cameron LNG project in the US.

Toho revealed that it had reached a deal to buy 300,000 tpy of LNG over a 20-year period once the project starts.

Last year, Mitsui agreed to buy 4 MMtpa of gas from Cameron LNG and acquire 16.6% equity in the existing import and re-gasification facilities as well as the liquefaction project.

Sempra Energy is building the 12 MMtpa LNG terminal on the Louisiana coast, which will consist of three 4 MMtpa trains.

The project is currently scheduled for start up in the second half of 2017.
