Shell selects Wood Group for engineering services on Scotland gas, NGL plants

Wood Group has secured a two-year contract extension from Shell UK to deliver integrated services to two gas plants in Scotland, the companies said on Tuesday.

The two plants are the St. Fergus gas terminal and Fife natural gas liquids plant, which includes the Braefoot Bay marine terminal.

Effective April 2014, the award marks the continuation of a previous contract awarded in 2007.

Wood Group employs around 500 people under this contract and provides project management, engineering, construction, commissioning, maintenance support and supply chain management services. Since the acquisition of Pyeroy Group in July 2013, WGPSN will also be providing fabric maintenance services to the Shell plants, as part of the new contract.

“We have been working with Shell for more than two decades and we are delighted to secure this major piece of work," said Dave Stewart, UK managing director of Wood Group. "This is the first contract where we have built our new fabric maintenance capability into the work scope.”

This award is the eighth North Sea contract extension chalked up by Wood Group in the previous 12 months, following awards from CNR, TOTAL E&P UK, Teekey, Ithaca Energy, Nexen, ConocoPhillips and Dana.

In the UK, Wood Group now employs more than 12,000 people working onshore and offshore.
