Shell, Sinopec, Total to build Singapore lube park

By ERIC YEP

A joint venture between the regional units of Royal Dutch Shell, Total and China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) will build a shared lubricants facility in Singapore, the companies said in a joint statement Wednesday.

The partners will build Lube Park at the Tuas industrial complex in southwestern Singapore, and include import, export and storage facilities for the adjacent lube oil blending plants and grease manufacturing plants of the companies, the statement said.

Construction on the park will begin later this year and it is expected to be completed by 2015. It will be built by Singapore Lube Park Pte. Ltd., a joint venture between the three companies.

Sinopec has already started up its new lubricants plant in Tuas.

Shell's new facility at Tuas will replace its plant in Woodlands, while Total's new facility will replace two plants in Jurong Pandan and in Pioneer, the companies said.
