Dow chooses Foster Wheeler for Louisiana ethane cracker upgrading project

The services include detailed engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) work.
The objective of the project is to improve the plant's ethane flexibility to take advantage of low-cost feedstock. The scope will include brownfield additions and retrofit modifications to the plant.
The project is part of Dows comprehensive US Gulf Coast investment strategy.
Foster Wheeler has the proven brownfield/retrofit project execution capabilities that are crucial to achieving Dows cost and schedule objectives, said Umberto della Sala, president and chief operating officer.
The contract value was not disclosed. The initial release of work will be included in the companys second quarter 2013 bookings, while the main release is expected to be recorded in the third quarter of 2013.
