Citgo Petroleum shut down part of the western plant of its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, according to a government filing made public.
The shutdown occurred after a leak in a unit allowed water into the system, Citgo said in its filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
"The West Plant unit rates were decreased to reduce to production of sour gas at the facility," Citgo said in its filing.
The Corpus Christi refinery can process up to 165,000 bpd into gasoline, diesel and petrochemicals, according to Citgo's website.
Citgo is the United States refining arm of Petroleos de Venezuela.
