Dyno Nobel picks KBR for Louisiana ammonia plant construction, technology
KBR was awarded a contract by Dyno Nobel to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, as well as technology licensing and equipment, for an ammonia plant to be built in Waggaman, Louisiana.
The contract award is valued at approximately $600 million, company officials confirmed on Thursday.
The award also builds upon KBR’s portfolio of solid construction execution, according to the company, positioning KBR to capitalize on the rapidly increasing shale gas market in North America.
The 800,000 tpy ammonia facility will be designed using KBR’s Purifier technology, which has a documented track record of safe and reliable operations and offers the lowest energy consumption in the industry, according to company officials.
“We are proud that Dyno Nobel has selected KBR for the construction of a world-scale ammonia plant in Louisiana,” said David Zelinski, president of KBR's downstream business.
“This award affirms our position as a recognized leader in ammonia plant technology and EPC services," he added. "I look forward to the successful completion of this project that will enable our client to extract the maximum possible performance from this world-class facility.”
