KBR licenses ammonia technology to Indorama for grassroots Nigeria project

Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals has selected KBR to provide ammonia technology for its planned grassroots ammonia plant in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, the companies confirmed on Friday.

KBR will license its ammonia technology to Indorama to operate a 2,300 tpd ammonia plant based on KBR’s leading Purifier technology.

Indorama’s selection of KBR's technology was based on several factors, including the highest demonstrated plant run lengths and the lowest energy consumption, according to project officials.

“We are very proud that Indorama has selected KBR for this world-scale fertilizer complex in Nigeria,” said John Derbyshire, president KBR Technology.

“Africa is considered one of the largest emerging markets for the fertilizer business and it is a great source of pride for us to be associated with one of the world’s most dynamic companies for this breakthrough project," he said.

“Indorama has a long-standing relationship with KBR,” added Manish Mundra, managing director for Indorama Nigeria.

“As the licensor for Indorama’s ethylene plant in Port Harcourt, KBR has delivered strong value to Indorama’s existing operations and we are confident our selection of the Purifier technology will provide us with the world’s leading ammonia technology for this next phase of our company’s growth.”
