Korea Petrochemical taps Toyo to build EO/EG plant

Toyo Engineering was awarded a contract by Korea Petrochemical to build an ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene glycol (EG) plant at the Ulsan petrochemical complex in Korea, officials said on Friday.

The new plants will have a capacity of 80,000 tpy of EO and 205,000 tpy for EG.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Toyo will provide the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) based on the basic design package of US-based company Scientific Design (SD).

The mechanical completion of this plant is scheduled for May 2014.

On a global basis, Toyo has previously built 13 EO/EG plants based on SD’s technology, including two units in Korea.
