Total Safety joins top winners in US safety awards

Total Safety was one of eight businesses selected as “America’s Safest Companies” for 2012, the US-based safety services company said this week.

The award was given by EHS Today, a health and safety publication covering the manufacturing, construction and service sectors.

According to the publication, nominees had to demonstrate support from management and employee involvement in the company’s safety and health program as well as provide innovative solutions to safety challenges.

Other criteria included having injury and illness rates significantly lower than industry averages, supporting comprehensive training programs, believing that that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process, bringing integrated safety into corporate culture and communicating the value of safety to employees and customers.

Paul Tyree, chief operating officer for Total Safety, accepted the award at the recent America’s Safest Companies Conference, which highlighted transformational safety leadership and brought together safety panels from both industrial and regulatory experts.

“As a safety services company, we strive to develop best practices and innovative ideas that address even the toughest risk mitigation challenges within our clients’ industries,” Tyree said.

Total Safety CEO David Fanta said his company was “truly honored” to receive the award and gave credit to company employees.

“It is recognition, such as this, that reminds our employees that they are the ones continually raising the safety benchmark,” said Fanta.
