SABIC taps Wison Engineering for debottlenecking, benzene mitigation projects
China-based Wison Engineering was awarded two contracts by Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) to provide EPC services for a de-bottlenecking project and a benzene mitigation project.
The awards mark an important milestone in Wison Engineering’s expansion into the overseas market, the company said, paving the way for Wison to further develop business in Middle East.
The de-bottlenecking (DBN) project is a plant capacity expansion for the Saudi Iron and Steel Company (HADEED), located in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
Wison will provide engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up services both within and outside Saudi Arabia, with the planned acceptance by the client in September 2013.
Meanwhile, the benzene mitigation project involves the establishment of a new benzene separation plant and a renovation of an existing plant.
That project is expected to be completed around December 2013.

“These newly awarded projects will help Wison Engineering break into the international EPC industry and lay a new foundation for future market development in the Middle East, which is one of our most important strategic markets outside of China,” he added.
Financial terms for the project work were not disclosed.
Founded in 1997, Wison embarked on its international expansion with the first establishment of its branch in Saudi Arabia in 2008, followed by the offices of Singapore in 2009 and Indonesia in 2011.
