KOGAS to host Gastech 2014 in Seoul, South Korea
The 27th Gastech Conference and Exhibition, the global meeting place for energy industry professionals, will take place at the KINTEX Conference & Exhibition Centre in Seoul, South Korea, from March 24-27 in 2014.
Hosted by the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) - the world’s largest buyer of LNG - Gastech 2014 will bring together thousands of conference delegates, visitors and VIPs in a landmark event for the global gas community as it visits South Korea for the first time.
Gastech says it is is proud to serve the broad and diverse spectrum of the global gas industry. With roots firmly in gas shipping, the event has evolved to encompass all aspects of the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.
“We are honoured to be hosting the 27th edition of the Gastech conference and exhibition in Seoul in 2014,” said Mr. Kang Soo Choo, CEO of KOGAS, and chairman of the Korea Gas Union.

“KOGAS is the single largest LNG importer in the world, as well as the owner and operator of three world-scale LNG regasification terminals, and a 3000km span of nationwide transmission pipeline networks.
“The Incheon LNG regasification terminal, the largest in the world, is situated in close proximity to the Korea International Exhibition Centre (KINTEX) and will offer just one of several technical tour opportunities for delegates.”
Reasons for South Korea
When asked “why South Korea?”, Mark Carr, president of dmg::events, the organizers of Gastech 2014, said:
“By holding the 27th Gastech in South Korea we will ensure that all of our exhibitors and delegates have an opportunity to forge strong, meaningful relationships and generate opportunities to do business together.
"South Korea has just become the 8th country to join the ‘trillion dollar club’ for global import/export trade," Mr. Carr continued. "In addition to the many major long-term contracts that exist with producing countries including Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, USA, Russia and Yemen, South Korea’s buoyant economy and advanced manufacturing base means demand for gas and LNG continues to rise, KOGAS is actively investing in projects overseas in order to ensure a secure gas supply for the future.
"Korean shipyards have more than 70% of the world’s planned LNG and gas ships on their order books, and subsequently award major contracts to suppliers from all around the globe. International EPCs and manufacturers are also involved in a number of new LNG re-gasification terminals and liquefaction plants that are planned or already under construction.”
KINTEX – the conference and events venue
KINTEX is South Korea’s largest exhibition center. Located close to the International Airport and the capital city, the facility offers in excess of 100,000m2 of flexible event space, making it Asia’s fifth-largest venue.
The recently opened extension and conference facility offer Gastech a large facility in a vibrant and commercially focused city.
