Statoil temporarily shuts down Hammerfest LNG production after leak

Norwegian energy company Statoil said late Thursday that it temporarily shut down production Wednesday at its liquefied natural gas plant at Melkoya outside Hammerfest, Norway.
The shutdown is due to a ruptured fire water line, the company said in a statement, adding it is "too early to say anything about the duration" of the production halt.
Statoil's share of production from the plant totals 48,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day of LNG.
Statoil said the production shut down was controlled and that it is working to restore safety systems so that production can be resumed quickly.
The fire water unit is part of the plant’s safety system.
