Shaw Group, EBSE to form Brazil manufacturing JV
Engineering major The Shaw Group will form a new joint venture between its fabrication and manufacturing unit and Empresa Brasileira de Solda Eletrica S.A. (EBSE), a leading manufacturer and fabricator in Brazil.
The joint venture, EBSE Shaw Spool Solutions Fabricação de Sistemas de Tubulação Ltda. (ES3 do Brasil), will provide prefabrication services for carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy piping systems from two existing facilities - one in the state of Pernambuco and another in Rio de Janeiro.
Shaw has the unique capability to support Brazils growing economy and its infrastructure needs through our world-class piping systems, said David Chapman, president of Shaws fabrication and manufacturing group.
This joint venture will combine Shaws technology and production techniques with EBSEs history of servicing the Brazilian market, he added. As a result, we are enhancing our competitive position in one of the worlds most important emerging markets.
ES3 do Brasil will support the Brazilian infrastructure, power, petrochemical, and oil and gas industries.
The joint venture also will introduce Shaws induction pipe bending technology for spool fabrication and large diameter and heavy wall bends, as well as high-efficiency production and management techniques for pipe fabrication.
Shaw provides piping, structural steel and duct panel fabrication, as well as module assembly, pipe products and the worlds leading proprietary bending technology for the power and process industries.
Those industries include nuclear, gas- and coal-fired power plants, oil extraction, pipeline, refining, petrochemical and chemical, the company said.
