Elix Polymers chooses A Schulman for Europe ABS distribution

US-based plastics compounder A Schulman on Monday announced the signing of a distribution agreement with ELIX Polymers of Tarragona, Spain.

Under the agreement, A Schulman has assumed responsibility for distribution of ELIX's acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) grades, which are currently marketed under the trade names of Lustran and Novodur, in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Benelux countries, France, Great Britain and Scandinavia.

In addition to taking over distribution, A Schulman will provide key account support for these products, it said.

The ELIX materials now being distributed by A. Schulman include ABS natural and pre-colored grades, ABS/PC blends and high heat-resistant grades, as well as specialty grades for medical and food-contact applications.

"This alliance between two industry leaders enables us to offer customers a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance ABS products," said Bernard Rzepka, chief operating officer of Europe, Middle East, Africa, for A Schulman.

"Being able to address a broad range of varieties and applications is a hallmark of the ELIX ABS materials that we now represent,” he added.

ELIX Polymers was previously the Spanish ABS arm of global petrochemicals major INEOS before being divested earlier this month.
