Shell seeks shipper commitments for proposed Louisiana-to-Houston crude pipeline
Shell has started a non-binding solicitation of interest period for firm capacity on its proposed St. James to Houston pipeline project, known as the Westward Ho pipeline.
The Westward Ho pipeline would enhance access to the anticipated increased domestic production of US Gulf of Mexico and foreign crude available at St. James, La., the company said.
Additionally, the Westward Ho Pipeline project would complement the new storage and logistics infrastructure that is currently being built in the St. James and Clovelly areas in Louisiana.
The Westward Ho Pipeline would consist of a new pipeline build to connect the Louisiana domestic and imported crude markets with the Texas markets.
The Westward Ho pipeline could enable the distribution of approximately 900,000 bbl per day of crude across the region depending upon crude types shipped.
During the solicitation of interest period, which began on Friday and continues until December 2, interested shippers will have an opportunity to submit a non-binding indication of their interest in capacity on the Westward Ho pipeline.
Subject to customer commitments and regulatory approval, the Westward Ho pipeline is expected to begin service by early 2015.
